Picard season 3 pays homage to Sulu Enterprises
Picard season 3 will introduce Titan-A helm Sidney LaForge, a new character linking TNG's Geordi LaForge and TOS' Hikaru Sulu.

The character set in Star Trek: Picard season 3 is a subtle homage to Hikaru Sulu (George Takei), helmsman of the Star Trek: Original Series Enterprise. The final season of the Star Trek: The Next Generation spinoff will reunite the TNG cast for one final adventure, and showrunner Terry Matalas teased that it will also continue Star Trek: Voyager " and the story of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. However, it's not just 1990s Star Trek that will be referenced in Picard season 3, as one particular character forms a bond between TNG's Geordi LaForge (LeVar Burton) and TOS' Hikaru Sulu.
Picard season 3 happens to be a TNG spinoff that will introduce the next generation of Star Trek through Geordi's daughters Sidney and Alandra, both officers of Starfleet. Alandra (Mica Burton) is an engineering ensign, while Sidney (Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut) is a Titan-A ensign and helmsman. Sidney's stance is reminiscent of Demora Sulu (Jacqueline King) in "Star Trek: Generations."
Geordi’s Daughter Is A Helmsman Like Sulu’s Daughter

Sidney LaForge is Titan-A's helmsman, bringing Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes) on a dangerous mission. It is likely that Jean-Luc put his The daughter is in danger, causing Geordi to exclaim "Riker, Worf, you're pulling them into this circle too?" Sidney isn't the only kid among iconic Star Trek characters following in his father's footsteps. Star Trek: Generations introduces Demora Sulu, helmsman of the ill-fated Enterprise B under Captain Harriman.
In the opening scene of Generations, Enterprise-B is preparing for its maiden voyage, with another, younger Sulu at the helm. "It wouldn't be the Enterprise without Sulu at the helm," Kirk (William Shatner) muses during a meeting with Demora. While Sidney didn't serve on the Enterprise, she, like Demora, followed in her father's footsteps as Jody began serving at the helm of the Enterprise in TNG season 1. ^In Generations, Kirk ponders how Sulu found time to start a family in all their adventures. Scottie (James Doohan) responds with "if something is important enough, you make time for it," which strongly implies that settling down was never a priority for Jim Kirk. Kirk did have a child, David Marcus, who was tragically killed by Klingons in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and the death of Kirk's son David Marcus may have played a role in that Star Trek icons never really settled down. With the death of his only son, he probably thought he had lost his only chance to be a father.
Picard’s Sulu Homage Makes Kirk And Jean-Luc The Same

This makes him very similar to Jean-Luc, who refused to be loved and have a family due to guilt over his mother's tragic death as a child. Like Kirk, Jean-Luc watched his former Enterprise crew members support their families. There is a photo of a beaming Picard cradling Will and Deanna's son Thaddeus Troi-Riker as a baby, and he shares a deep bond with Beverley Crusher's son Wesley. Star Trek: Picard season 3 will focus on Jean-Luc's enduring legacy, and like Jim Kirk, it will be about his impact on Starfleet and the Federation rather than developing the next generation of officers.
